Everest base camp with Gokyo lakes trek route: 

Everest Base Camp with Gokyo Lake Trek begins with an exciting flight to Lukla. From here, you'll follow the classic route to Everest Base Camp which ascends through beautiful Sherpa villages. 

The trek takes us into the Sagarmatha National Park in spring. The initial part of the trail goes through lush rhododendron forests, crossing numerous suspension bridges and passing by waterfalls. 

This experience Jade and Gobinda create is more than a trek, it is a spiritual awakening with breathwork and meditation practice daily. The Himalayas are the home of yoga, we will perform sun salutations watching the sun rise over stunning mountain tops.  Connect with ourselves, nature, energy and have a pristine grounding experience.  You will learn about the Sherpa's authentically by meeting and conversing with the locals in their homes.

  

You'll walk on glaciers and paths filled with loose rocks. climb over mountain passes that seem to never end....until you get there and are filled with elation.  Passing by Gorak Shep, you trek and reach EBC. As Mt. Everest view is blocked at the base camp, you hike to Kala Patthar the following day to witness a breathtaking mountain panorama as the sun rises. 

The trails ascend and descend with frustrating regularity, but you forget to care with the spectacular views in all directions. You'll cross the Cho La pass and drop down to the gorgeous remote Gokyo village, located at the shore of one of the Gokyo Lakes. You will embrace a sunrise at Gyoko Ri and explore the stunning Gokyo Lakes. 16 days of spectacular views, challenging hiking, tranquil meditation and welcome sleep and a cultural immersion.  All in all this is a true bucket list trip.

In Nepal:

  • 3 nights accommodation in the heart of the Thamel district in Kathmandu twin sharing basis 

  • Return flights from Kathmandu to Lukla or perhaps Ramechhap depending on flight schedules. 

  • All accommodation while trekking on a twin share basis – we stay in guest houses and one special night in a hotel!  

  • All meals for the trip – ordered off set menus and cooked fresh for you. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, water and juice included,all other drinks at your own expense. 

  • All National Park Fees 

  • Experienced English-speaking government licensed trekking guide in addition to Gobinda (experienced unlicensed trekking guide) 

  • Personal Sherpa’s to carry your equipment 1 Sherpa between 2 trekkers  

  • Trekking Guide and porter salary, food, equipment, and insurance including on-trip cost (our guides and sherpas are well looked after) 

  • All applicable Climbing Permits, National park TIMS, and Local permits

Itinerary: Day to Day Details (subject to change without notice depending on logistics, illness and pace)

Day 1 Saturday: Arrival in Kathmandu (1400m.)

Upon your arrival at the airport, Jade, Gobinda or a hotel representative will meet you and take you to your hotel. Time to ask any questions you may have and double-check all your equipment one more time before treking. Later, you may relax at your accommodation or wander around the tourist hub Thamel.  The group will have dinner together that night.  If you wish to purchase any equipment (not boots- your boots must be worn in before you arrive in Nepal) in Thamel before your trek we suggest you arrive a day earlier and we will arrange for Gobinda to assist you in the shopping

Day 2 Sunday: Morning flight to Lukla (2840m.) and trek to Phakding (2610m.)

The morning flight from Kathmandu or Ramcheep to Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla, the trail's first Sherpa village, is the beginning point of our trek. We will meet our guides at the Lukla airport and settle into the slow pace of trekking life with our breakfast in Lukla.  From Lukla, will start walking to reach Phakding, a Sherpa settlement in the Dudh Koshi valley with a scattering of teahouses and cafés. We will walk down the route along the Dudh Koshi River banks to reach Phakding.

Day 3 Monday: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m.) 

We will start hiking towards Namche Bazaar, the Sherpa homeland's capital. We will cross several metallic bridges, including the well-known Hillary Bridge covered in vibrant prayer flags, and walk through a lush pine forest. We will enter the Sagarmatha National Park from Monjo. The first view of Mount Everest seems to be from atop Danda. You will finally arrive at Namche Bazaar after passing chortens (Buddhist monuments), mane walls with inscribed mantras, and a breathtaking Himalayan landscape.

Day 4 Tuesday: First acclimatization day – Hotel Everest View 

To acclimatize to the altitude, we will spend the morning exploring Namche, the primary commercial centre of the Khumbu area, low-cost and upscale mountain hotels, bakeries, web cafés, and restaurants are found here. Our acclimatisation hike is up to the Hotel Everest View stopping at the Sagarmatha Next education centre. The Hotel's vantage point offers close-up vistas of Ama Dablam, and a late lunch before settling in for our night accommodation is the best hotel in the Everest region.

Day 5 Wednesday: Trek to Tengboche (3860m.)

Leaving Namche behind, we will take a steep route towards Tengboche. There will be several photo opportunities, and a close view of Ama Dablam and Thamserku, two gleaming white Himalayan peaks, can be seen very near. Before descending to Phortse Tenga, we will stroll through a woodland of pine and rhododendron. We will take the twisting way up to Tengboche after crossing the suspension bridge and over Dudh Koshi. As you get closer to Tengboche, Ama Dablam appears to be extending its arms in greeting, it is so spectacular you forget you are climbing (nearly).  We will visit the historic Tengboche Monastery after refreshment and relaxation. Tengboche Monastery is the most significant monastery in the Khumbu area. We will take the blessings from the monks and listen to them recite prayers during the prayer session.

Day 6 Thursday: Trek to Dingboche (4410m.)

We will get up early and make our way to Dingboche. We will take a trail through the forest to get to Dingboche, which features a Buddhist nunnery. We will hike through mani walls, breathtaking Himalayan views, and yet another Sherpa village, Pangboche, which is home to Khumbu oldest monastery, Pangboche Gompa. Before entering the town of Dingboche, we will pass through yak cottages and suspension bridges.

Day 7 Friday: Second Acclimatization day 

You can notice the change within the atmosphere at an altitude of 4,410 meters. We will hike to Nagarjun Hill or Nangkartshang Hill to take in the expansive vistas of Makalu and the surrounding peaks. Afternoon is at leisure you may choose to join in on our yoga class and then reward your hard work with a hot chocolate and pastry from the bakery!

Day 8 Saturday: Trek to Lobuche (4910m.)

As you leave Dingboche, we will head toward Lobuche. We will head to Thukla Village and then the Thukla Pass. We spend time reflecting and honouring individuals who perished on Mount Everest at the stone memorial site.  Enjoying the landscapes and the mesmerizing mountain views, we will reach Lobuche.

Day 9 Sunday: Trek to Gorak Shep (5149m.) then hike to EBC (5364m.)

Today is the day you have been waiting for because you will reach the base camp of Mt. Everest, the highest mountain in the world. We will reach Gorak Shep, one of the highest Sherpa towns in the Everest region, walking through the Khumbu Glacier of rocky moraine pathways. After lunch at Gorakshep, we will hike to the Everest Base Camp. We can see the magnificent panoramas of Everest, Nuptse, Pumori, and Khumbutse on the way to EBC. For expedition teams attempting to summit Everest, Base camp will be their first destination. In the climbing season, the base camp area is covered in colourful tents, giving the area a lively appearance, unfortunately this trek is outside of summit season - April- May.

Day 10 Monday: Sunrise Kala Patthar (5550m.) then trek to Dzongla (4840m.)

We will hike to Kala Patthar early for the sunrise view. Kala Patthar, a tiny black hill near Gorakshep is around the two-hour walk. You can get up-close views of Mt. Everest, Pumori, Nuptse, Changtse, and Lhotse from Kala Patthar. It is one of the most well-known viewpoint places in the Khumbu region, where one can see the rocky top of Sagarmatha, the goddess of the sky, the highest mountain in the world. We will hike down to Gorakshep and take the road to Dzongla.

Day 11 Tuesday: Trek to Thaknak (4680m.) Via Cho La Pass (5423m.)

Today is the tough day of your walk, challenging as you cross Cho La, a high mountain pass. The traverse includes a non-technical climb to the summit of Cho La at 5367m, one of the highlights of the Everest base camp Gokyo lakes trek. Although the ascent is not technically difficult, the hike up the pass is strenuous but by now you are getting used to the trekking life and have acclimitised somewhat. Views of the mountain range seen from the top of Chola Pass are spectacular, as you can see the Himalayan peaks Ama Dablam, Baruntse, and Lobuche East. At the foot of Cho La Pass, we will reach a little Sherpa community, Thaknak.

Day 12 Wednesday: Trek to Gokyo (4790m.)

Thaknak is among the last settlements left on the Nepalese border, as Tibet is on the other side. Enjoy the breathtaking view of Cho Oyu, the sixth-highest mountain in the world (8188m), while we make our journey to Gokyo from Thaknak. We will walk, following a path that meanders beside the longest glacier in Nepal, the Nzogumpa Glacier. Gokyo Cho and Thonak Cho are the greatest of the Gokyo Lakes in Gokyo village.

Day 13 Thursday: Morning Sunsire from Gokyo Ri (5360m.) and trek to Machhermo (4470m.) 

We will wake up early and hike to the Gokyo Ri. From Gokyo Ri, we will see the stunning panoramic view of Gokyo Valley, Gokyo lakes, and a continuous chain of glaciers on the Himalayan peak. One of the most well-known overlooks in the Khumbu region, Gokyo Ri, provides breathtaking views of the Himalayas. Following the isolated and breathtakingly rough trail, we will reach Machhermo.

Day 14 Friday: Trek to Namche (3440m.)

We will walk on the trail passing through rhododendron and pine forest, enjoying the stunning scenery of Everest, Lhotse, and other peaks, and strolling over the junction of the Dudh Koshi - Imja Khola. Before arriving in Namche, we will pass by the now-familiar colourful Buddhist prayer flags.

Day 15 Saturday: Trek back to Monjo (2835m.) 

After breakfast, yoga and a cheeky trip to the Namche Bakery.  We will hike towards the Hillary Suspension Bridge, passing through several nearby villages. You arrive at Monjo after enjoying the vistas of Himalayan peaks, landscapes, chortens and mani walls, and Sherpa settlements.

Day 16 Sunday: Trek back to Lukla (2840m.) 

A nice relaxing final day on the trail.  You've achieved a physical accomplishment that most can only dream of because of excellent collaboration and endurance. It may be difficult to accept that it is your final night on the mountain.  Farewell dinner with the guides and porters, reminiscing, laughs and gratitude for the experience they have been such an integral part of!

Day 17 Monday: Fly Back to Kathmandu (1400m.)

You will take a quick flight in the morning via Lukla to Kathmandu, the starting and ending point of your trip. In the evening, we'll get together and have a farewell dinner at one of the finest Nepalese restaurants nearby. Here, we'll be glad to hear your thoughts on the trip and celebrate its successful conclusion with a member from our office.

Day 18 Tuesday: Kathmandu Sightseeing/Contingency Day

This day is reserved, as a backup in case of unforeseen situations, such as flight cancellations or delays, inclement weather on the trail, etc. If your expedition goes as planned today will be the Kathmandu city tour selected specifically designed for us based on the majority wishes of the group. 

 

Day 19 Wednesday: Final Departure 

Your final day in Nepal has come unless you have arranged to stay a little longer We can help you arrange additional accommodation and later airport transfers if that suits your itinerary better.  We wish you farewell and say our goodbyes, leaving you with life-changing memories, a balanced nervous system and wonderful pictures to share with your loved ones. Three hours before the departure of your flight, we will drop you off at the international airport after we ensure you have collected your final souvenirs from Thamel.
